Onion Kheer, Payasam (प्याज़ की खीर )




Ingredients –
Onion 1 (finely chopped)
Ghee (Clarified butter) 3 tsp
Condensed milk ½ Cup 
Milk 1 Cup
Sugar 100 Gms
Dry fruits (chopped)
Cardamom powder 2-3 pinch
Water (for boiling onion)
Method –
Boil water in a pan and put chopped onion in it. Boil for 7-10 minutes.  After 10 minutes strain onion in a bowl and keep it side.
Take another pan and add condescended milk, milk and chopped dry fruits in it. Stir well on simmer gas for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it will become little bit thicker. Now add sugar .Before adding sugar, test the mixture once, because condensed milk itself is sweet and add sugar according to your test then.
Now pour this mixture in a bowl or take another pan. Add ghee and onion. Soute them till onion become little bit golden. Then add mixture of milk and dry fruits. Cook it for 2-3 minutes. Onion kheer is ready. Enjoy this very old lost recipe as a dessert.
